SELF PUBLISHED BOOK - "REFLECTIONS" BY ANNA SAHADEO

Reflections is a compilation of contemporary prose poems which were written during the Poet’s teenage years and early adulthood. It reveals a rare visionary Poet who dares to defy the rules of traditional poetry. The Poet wove together personal experiences and imagination to succeed in creating pieces that are captivating, emotionally moving and appeals to the younger generation. It also highlights the Poet’s love for nature and colors, and all images for this book were carefully selected by the Poet, complementing and defining her unique style. It is a book that goes hand in hand with a statement by the well applauded American Poet, Russell Edson, “we want to write free of debt or obligation to literary form or idea, free from even ourselves, free from our own expectations.”

THE BLOOM

A rose has blossomed before her time
Her petals slowly wither
As the earth soon becomes her domain
And her fragrance upon the tree remains.
She is crushed into nothingness
As the earth dances to the music of horses’ hooves,
Petal by petal her sweet being subsides
As the earth anxiously beckons her to come.
She cries out to the tree,
“Behold I was made in beauty
But time has forsaken me”.
In her misery she glaringly looks at the youthful bud
Mourning,
Alas! My child, relish your youth
For moments are ours yet for a while,
And all that was is no more…
And all that rise shall one day fall,
For in the end we all must heed the Black Master’s call.

GOD’S LOVE

God’s love is like a gently flowing river
That touches everything in its way,
It fills our lives
And shines out each and every day.

God’s love is like a masterpiece
Hanging on a mirrored wall,
We can not escape its beauty
Its reflections are adored by all.

God’s love is like a baby’s smile
Powerful, undisturbed and innocent,
Knocking at our heart’s door
Waiting for the moment…

ALTER TO NIGHT

I can now see the glistening sun go down
The sky ever so radiant,
Moves on to a new day.
To the trees
The winds seem to sing a new song,
To the evening
Its work is done.
Darkness falls
The sky goes to sleep,
The flickering stars twinkle in the sky
The delightful moon puts on a lovely smile.
Birds are asleep in their nests
A hushed breeze blows into the shadowy night,
The tides are slowly rising
And so is the night.

THE REBIRTH

Today I die,

And today itself I am born again

All that I ever was

I am giving to you now,

And all that I will ever be

Is because you loved me.

I give my hand to you

And vow to be yours forever,

My eyes will seek only you

And my heart will feel complete when you are near,

My body will know only your hands

And my unborn children will be safe in your tender care.

Every breath I take and every promise I make

Every wish that has come through and every dream that will now be lived,

Is all because of you - my love, my life and my greatest companion.

REMEMBRANCE

When you remember me
Know in your heart that you were truly loved by me
And even my life was yours
Let my memories fill your days
And my warmth keep you from the cold nights,
Let my light shine through you
For you were the love of my life.
My children’s laughter will remind you of me
But please do not feel sorrow
Just love them as you had loved me.
Rock my children gently and softly sing to them
And I will be with you
Even as I was then,
The sunrise and the sunset will disappear in time
Do not look at them and shed tears
They are only signs.
Like the sunrise we live,
Sharing our love until the last
And like the sunset we die,
But our beauty is remembered by those whose hearts we touched.
I leave you not by choice but my calling came,
I have not deserted you
But will be present even after my departure.
I must return to my creator now,
But please remember that I am always with you
And if you ever cry
I will be crying too because I honestly love you.
